Mischievous David Haye has fanned the flames ahead of Saturday’s big fight by claiming Wladimir Klitschko’s coach Emanuel Steward had told him he would “love” to help him beat his own fighter’s brother, Vitali.
Veteran Bernard Hopkins will create boxing history if he can take the IBO and WBC light-heavyweight titles off defending champion Jean Pascal in Quebec, Canada on Saturday evening. Success for Hopkins would come 28 days before his 46th birthday, making him the oldest fighter in the history of the sport to win a significant world title – 38 days older than George Foreman was when he defeated Michael Moorer for the heavyweight crown back in 1994.
Bernard Hopkins vowed to prove that he is “special” as he arrived in Quebec City for Saturday’s showdown with Jean Pascal for the WBC and IBO light-heavyweight titles. The age-defying, 45-year-old Hopkins (51-5-1 32KOs) will become the oldest fighter in the history of boxing to win a prominent world title if he can better of Pascal (26-1 16KOs), who is 17 years his junior.
