Arturo Gatti knocked out Leonard Dorin in round two in Atlantic City to retain his WBC light-welterweight title.

Gatti floored his opponent with a single body shot to improve his record to 38-6.

The win was unusual for Gatti, who ended it without shedding any of his own blood.

“It’s more than a victory to me, not going to the hospital after the fight,” he told ESPN.

Dorin (22-1-1), a former lightweight champion, was suffering his first defeat.

Gatti boxed effectively in the opening round, yet midway through the second Dorin started to land his left hook, prompting Gatti to respond with more serious firepower.

That was a mistake for Dorin, who was sent to the canvas with a perfectly placed left hook.
