Miguel Cotto v Zab Judah

Miguel Cotto knocked out Brooklyn’s Zab Judah in the 11th round to keep his WBA welterweight title at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.

Judah never really recovered from a cut to the right eye and two low blows early in the fight by Cotto.

Cotto also didn’t come out of the fight unscathed as the the 2000 Olympian, who now has 25 knockouts, was cut inside the mouth and had blood running down his chest.

Cotto was penalised a point in the third round for his second low blow while the other came in the first.

But after the third round Cotto took charge and in the ninth, Judah went down on a knee in his corner after a series of hits from Cotto.

The knock-out was in sight for Cotto and it came two rounds later when a left hook floored Judah and though the 29-year-old managed to get up, he was pummelled by Cotto and referee Arthur Mercante Jr jumped in to stop it.

Judah held the undisputed welterweight crown just two years ago.
